Merry Christmas!

Well here we are at the end of Term Two , what a busy term it has been!

Your children have been working incredibly hard learning new letter sounds, writing in Magic Pencil, singing songs , dancing and performing in our Nativity. We were so proud of them and were so impressed with their confidence performing in front of an audience.
We now only have the Church performance and our Christmas party before we say goodbye until 2015.

We would like to thank you for all your support during your child's first two terms at Newbridge and wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
Have a very restful holiday !

Well done shining stars!

Week Six

Well here we are in Week Six and we have been really busy practising and performing our Nativity- Bethlehem is Buzzing!
The children have been amazing learning all the songs that we are singing . I have been really proud of the way that they have performed their song- Twinkling Star . I am sure if you have already seen them you will be as proud of them as I am.
Thank you for sending in costumes and for the donations to the Christmas party!
We have sent a permission slip home today for you to fill in giving permission for your child to walk to the church to take part in the nativity.  Please could you fill it in and return it as soon as possible.
Please see the following photos of the fabulous costumes that Humphrey's Mummy made for us - she's a star !

Week Five

Well we really can't believe that it's already week five of the second term!

Last week was a little hectic to say the least but as usual your children rose to the challenge and showed the inspectors their learning and demonstrated their great enthusiasm in all areas of the curriculum.

We are busy learning our songs for the Christmas Nativity and are all really excited about performing in front of an audience .
Please could you ensure that you send your child in with their named clothes for the Nativity in a named bag as soon as possible as we are performing for the first time on Friday.

We have been learning even more sounds and this week are learning the digraphs ( two letters , one sound) ll and ss.

Why not try this activity at home-
Count the stairs in your house- how many are there? Can you count forwards and backwards from that number? Can you write any of those numbers . Bring them in and share your learning with your class.

Here are some photos of all the learning that has been going on in Bees over the last few weeks.......

End of Term One!

Wow! We can't believe that the first term is almost over! The children have been so busy learning all the new routines, making new friends and learning lots!
They are really working hard to write in Magic Pencil and have learnt many new letter sounds- s,a,t,p,i,n,m,n,c,k,g,ck,o, h,and r .
See if they can remember the song to go with each letter , the name and sound the letter makes and the Magic Pencil formation.

We have also been counting up to 20 forwards and backwards and have been trying hard to write the numbers 0 to 9- how many numbers can your child write? Over the holidays practice writing numbers and bring them to share with the class next term.

Here are some photographs from this term there are many many more and can be seen in your child's Learning Journey .

Have a great holiday, see you next term.

Our week so far ....

This week we have started to learn letters and sounds to help us read and write. So far we have practised the letter names and sounds for s, a and t and also how to write them in a cursive style . The children have also enjoyed learning the actions and songs for these letters. See if they can show you and accompany it with a song!

On Monday we started sending home ‘Show and Tell’ bags to 2 children each day. This is to give each child an opportunity to bring something from home to talk about to the rest of the class. There are a few rules!
1.   One or two items only.
2.   It must fit in the bag (so no very large items please).
3.   It must not be so heavy that it would break the bag.
4.   If it is raining please put it in a waterproof carrier bag.

Reminder
The class does PE on a Monday and a Tuesday . Please can you help the children by leaving the buttons on their white tops undone. If they find putting on e.g. their sweatshirt or socks/tights tricky please practice at home. Finally can you please make sure all their clothes are clearly named and your child knows where to find the label!

Explore Afternoon !

As many of you already know we are lucky enough to have a fabulous conservation area here at Newbridge and with that in mind every Friday afternoon Bee class will be going there for an Explore Afternoon.

Every Friday the children will need to bring in a pair of wellington boots, a pair of socks, a change of clothes (leggings or trousers and a long sleeved top) and a warm waterproof coat and waterproof trousers all clearly named in a  bag which must also be named . You may want to bring in the clothes any day beforehand which is fine.
If you don’t have waterproof trousers we have some that can be used here at school.

Your child may sometimes come home in their Explore clothes dependent on the weather and type of activity.

Thank you for your anticipated help and I am sure your children will have a fabulous time exploring!

Welcome to Bee Class !

A very warm welcome from all the team in Bee Class. That is myself, Mrs Button and also Mrs Kennaugh who teaches the class on Tuesday morning when I am planning, preparing and working on assessment with Mrs Harrison.
Mrs Bateman is our TA (teaching assistant) she works every day except Tuesday afternoon when Mrs Kamal (TA) supports the class. Our SMSA (Dinner lady) is Miss Auld.

The children have settled into school routines well and are learning how to get around the school. They are great at lining up and walking round in a tidy line. They are also fabulous at coming in on their own. Thank you for supporting them in that. They know where to put their water bottles and where their pegs are.

The children have enjoyed trying out the different activities in the classroom everyday. They have also liked playing with the children in Ladybird class during playtimes and in the outdoor spaces.
Please remember to send your child to school with a coat even if it is fine as it may start raining during the day and we go outside rain or shine!

All the book bags are now labelled and the children are good at putting them in the right box. They have all had a reading book to share at home. Please help your child to enjoy this by looking at the pictures and following the text.  It is a good idea to read each book at least twice. Thank you for the comments you have made in their Link Book. It is really important we know how they are getting on with their books at home so a brief note is helpful but if you are really short of time a tick will let us know that you have shared the book with them.
We will be holding a meeting about ‘Reading’ later in the year.

Books will be changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please send their books and Link Book in EVERY day as we will be hearing them read during the week and will need to record in them.

Both groups have had for PE. If your child finds undoing buttons and zips hard please can you practice at home, thank you.  On the days we do PE -Monday and Tuesday it is easier if you leave the buttons on the white tops undone.  We try our hardest to help the children put their clothes and shoes on afterwards. Clear labelling helps but if you find you have another child's belongings please return them to school as soon as possible!
I will add some photos later but if you pop into the class we have a photo wall just inside the door which shows you everything that we have been up to!
